SHOOT aims to establish a pioneering model that leverages digital photography as an immersive teaching tool, offering both educators and students a unique and effective approach to learning. Our mission is to empower students with innovative methods, fostering deeper engagement and understanding. By providing cutting-edge resources and training, SHOOT aims to revolutionize education at the European level, ensuring lasting impact and growth for the educational community.
About the project
The SHOOT project originated from the idea of transforming digital photography into immersive storytelling. The use of a digital camera enables teaching to go beyond the confines of the school and puts new emphasis on understanding the outside environment. It is proposed as a means of engaging with learning experiences. Immersive learning can help students to retain information better and foster a deeper understanding of the material, making education more accessible to students who may have difficulty learning through traditional methods.
Furthermore, the collaboration with the foreign peers would foster a more global mindset and increase cultural sensitivity among students. Another project objective is to improve language and communication skills, as well as to develop new ideas and create innovative work.
Target groups
- High school students aged 14-19
- VET Students with few opportunities
- Primary and secondary school teachers, headteachers, and school staff in general
Project results
The aim is to provide students and teachers with the knowledge to create immersive lessons, optimize content, including all learners, and foster critical awareness about technology, the environment, and future responsibilities. The needs analysis addresses students’ study challenges and helps teachers improve group formation, role assignment, and evaluation. The goal is to support effective learning for both students and teachers.
This result introduces an innovative teaching methodology that centers around digital storytelling. Storytelling is crucial, as neuroscience shows it fosters emotional connections, making information easier to understand and retain. Storytelling seamlessly combines narrative with contemporary technologies, tools, and content. Given the information overload teenagers face today, this approach emphasizes the importance of curating content. By employing digital content curation strategies, the goal is to ensure the information shared is useful, high-quality, and relevant.
The immersive classroom is a technological evolution of digital, customized learning materials, designed to make learning intuitive, engaging, and social for students. This environment fully engages students in their education by providing a multi-sensory, interactive experience based on Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory. Instead of traditional lectures, students actively engage with the content created by their peers, integrating traditional teaching with interactive technology. This approach transforms classroom walls into immersive, interactive spaces, allowing students to explore educational content in a more dynamic and engaging way.
The SHOOT Experience is the final stage of this innovative journey, offering three immersive lessons that enhance traditional teaching with technology. Accessible to all students, these lessons transform the classroom through video projections on walls, ceilings, and floors. Inspired by interactive museums, this dynamic approach fosters creativity, critical thinking, and engagement. Designed for high school students but adaptable for all levels, the lessons encourage reflection and retention, making learning more interactive and inclusive.
